The country is busily adding new, state-of-the-art tourism experiences to its natural blessings of superlative tropical beauty, relaxed vibes and warm, welcoming local people
Antigua and Barbuda already gives the warmest of welcomes to tourists who number almost three times its population – 265,187 flew into the islands in 2016 alone. Still, the country is dedicated to improving and expanding the visitor experience on offer.
“We know we are always very much front and centre of new developments; we are leaders, trendsetters in the Caribbean,» explains Trade Minister E.P. Chet Green.
Of singular size and ambition, the country’s first planned mega-resort, known as “Singulari’ will see Antigua move into a new league with its first $1 billion hotel project, which will include a casino, golf courses and horse racing on 900 acres on Antigua plus 700 extra acres on tiny isles off the northeast coast. These developments are important steps for the country, which aims to welcome 1 million cruise passengers per year by 2020.
More intimate and exclusive will be Callaloo Cay, a chilled-out luxury hotel and world-class spa, as well as new projects by Marriott and Royalton.
We are front and centre of new developments; we are trendsetters”
